In St Helens we have a wide range of services available to support children and young peoples emotional and mental wellbeing. Support is available within the community as well as in local education settings. Most of the services are available for children and young people aged 0-18 years old, but some offer support for children and young people with SEND up to age 25.

For young people and children, 11-25 years old.
Service Overview
Kooth is an online counselling and emotional well-being platform for children and young people, accessible through mobile, tablet and desktop. This service is anonymous and free at the point of use.
There is a wealth of useful self help articles and resources on a range of topics, and the ability to be creative and share your experiences. You can join moderated forums to discuss with others who may be feeling the same in a safe supportive environment.
Counsellors are available from:
Midday to 10pm Monday to Friday and
6pm - 10pm at Weekends.

Service Overview
Weekly confidential drop in at secondary schools (for pupils) and termly at primary schools (for parents / carers).
Support for initial concerns regarding low mood, thoughts of self-harm, concerns regarding bullying, weight issues.
The school health practitioner will formulate a plan of support, alongside the young person and offer brief interventions to support their emotional health and wellbeing. Where necessary onward referrals are made and signposting advice given.

Service Overview
Open access community network group - If you have concerns about your child’s behaviour or progress our weekly community network groups offer support to help you learn, understand and meet the needs of your child and family.
Family Learning Programmes and Workshops - Structured programmes and workshops that give carers the skills, knowledge and confidence to enable you to better recognise, understand and meet the needs of your family living with neurodevelopmental conditions, learning difficulties and associated mental health needs .

Service overview
The Mental Health Support Teams provide mental health support within Primary and Secondary School settings.
Early detection and intervention service, working with mild to moderate mental health difficulties & challenging behaviours in the school setting via individual or group work.
Offer includes access to cognitive behavioural therapy and other talking therapies in one-to-one and group formats.
Advice, education and training to school staff to help them better support their pupils emotional and mental wellbeing.

Service overview
Wrap around emotional health and wellbeing support for all St Helens Secondary Schools.
Children and young people can access school-based drop-in sessions, face to face or online evidence based therapeutic group work and 1:1 brief therapy.
Parent support can be accessed through 1:1 consultation and live and/or recorded webinars.
We provide access to evidence based early interventions that build resilience as well as signposting to local provision ensuring timely access to specialist services where required.

Service overview
The service aim is to listen and to empower young people to know how to improve their mental health and emotional wellbeing, including supporting them to reflect upon and become more aware of their thoughts, emotions, and behaviours.
We promote wellbeing techniques whilst supporting young people to gain a more positive mental wellbeing and emotional resilience.
The one-to-one support is complimented by a weekly “peer support group” offering a chance for service users to come together with their peers.

Service overview
Barnardo’s BOSS is based in St Helens, Merseyside and is an early intervention emotional health and wellbeing service.
The service works with children and young people aged 5 – 18 years offering both face to face therapy and online counselling.
The service supports children and young people through therapeutic work, mentoring, group work and online support and specialist therapy including art and play therapy.

Service Overview
Counselling, training, support, advice and guidance for Children we Look After (CLA) and those on the Edge of Care, their Parents, Carers and Social Workers.
One-to-one counselling in schools for CYP affected by bereavement or other forms of loss (i.e. divorce or family separation).
One-to-one counselling in schools for CYP affected by domestic abuse.
What

Children and young people up to the age of 18 and their families.
Service overview
Work with young people with emotional, behavioural or mental health difficulties, and their families, who require specialist support.
They provide access to face to face therapies, including whole family holistic therapy, and also offer telephone consultations and virtual sessions.
Other therapies available include solution focused interventions, CBT based interventions and group work, but all offers are personalised to individual needs.

Children and young people age 8 to 18 years who have symptoms of an eating disorder.
Service overview
This service provides assessment, treatment and support for young people with eating disorders and their families.
It aims to promote the early detection and treatment of eating disorders through a combination of one-to-one support and family therapy, along with support from a qualified dietitian.
The service also offers group sessions and virtual contact to suit the needs of the individual.
The service is open to self-referrals.

Overview
The Neurodevelopment Pathway Team assess children and young people with suspected neurodevelopmental needs via a multi-agency assessment.
This process may or may not lead to a formal diagnosis, but will inform an appropriate care plan to meet the specific needs of the individual going forwards.
If you know a child or young person who would benefit from a multiagency pathway assessment, please make an appointment with your school’s specialist educational needs coordinator (SENCO), GP or other professional who can discuss this with you.

Overview
The CAMHS Crisis Response Team provides immediate crisis response and management for individuals who require urgent mental health support.
Emergency assessments and urgent support is provided within 4 hours.
Ongoing contact and follow-up care plans are also coordinated by the team.
Support may also be provided by the Home Treatment Team (HTT) who provide outreach to the young persons place of residence to help prevent hospital admission.

Shout 85258 is a free, confidential, 24/7 text messaging support service for anyone who is struggling to cope.
They support people who are anxious, stressed, depressed, suicidal or overwhelmed and who need immediate support.

Overview
If you or somebody you know of is in crisis, you can call the Urgent Mental Health Support Line at any time.
The Crisis Response Team will still be available for face-to-face support if essential - risk assessments will be undertaken regarding these cases.
